INSTRUMENT TESTING

Instrumental Analysis and Materials Characterisation

Our own laboratories provide the listed composition, structure, microscopy, surface, particle and thermal analysis projects. Choose instruments and preparation by sample state, scale and target parameter, separating identification, quantity and interpretation. Local data, library matches or a peak do not alone prove a complete formulation, source or unique cause.

Specify the part and quantity of interest

We provide elemental, molecular, phase, imaging, surface and thermal methods. Specify whether the target is a whole object, surface, section or isolated particle, and whether the goal is identification, comparison or quantity.

Normal areas, controls, blanks and known references help interpret differences. Methods have different scales: a surface is not the bulk, an image is not the entire batch, and non-detection does not establish absolute absence.

Preparation can change the evidence

Our own laboratories arrange sampling and preparation with agreed positions and consumption. Preserve fractures, foreign matter and contamination first; cleaning, polishing, drying or sputtering is not a universal starting procedure.

Artifacts, substrate interference, charging, overlaps and matrix effects can alter interpretation. Multiple methods can cross-check evidence if position, history and quantity remain comparable; more methods do not guarantee complete evidence or a unique cause.

Plots, quantities and interpretation are different outputs

Agreed images, curves, spectra, parameters or raw data can be provided, with fitting, controls and interpretation as arranged. Specify formats, calibration, statistics and interpretation depth rather than assuming every single test includes all processing.

Library matches require features and controls; peak area, display colour and local atomic ratios do not automatically become whole-object content or recipe proportions. Source, cause and service life need additional context, and conclusions retain their support level.

Before instrumental work

  • Material, form, dimensions, quantity and hazards
  • Target position, parameter, controls and existing plots
  • Permitted cutting, cleaning, sputtering or consumption
  • Specified method, data format, interpretation and report use

Methods and categories help select a direction. Listed projects are provided by our own laboratories; conditions and marked-report scope are agreed separately.

TECHNICAL DOMAINS

Eight Technical Domains

Our own laboratories provide projects in these directions. Methods and uses guide selection; preparation, resolution, conditions and interpretation are agreed for the task.

COMPOSITION & PURITY

Elements, Composition & Purity

06 instruments / methods

Select qualitative or quantitative routes for major, minor and trace elements according to matrix and required detection limits.

Our own laboratories arrange this work. Results describe particular specimens, regions and conditions; local is not automatically bulk, surface is not the whole material, preparation can alter evidence, and combined findings still need controls and context.

Primary Uses

  • Which elements or ions are present?
  • What are the concentrations and impurity levels?
  • Do batches differ in composition?

METHOD KNOWLEDGE

Instrument Testing Knowledge Base

Guidance on method selection, sample preparation, result interpretation and common questions.

01

SEM and TEM examine different objects

SEM emphasises surfaces, sections and local regions; TEM needs suitable thin specimens. A local view is not automatically representative.

02

XRD and XPS are not interchangeable

XRD emphasises phases and crystal structure; XPS surface elements and chemical states. Surface findings are not bulk formulation.

03

Preparation affects results

Cutting, grinding, cleaning, coating or sputtering can alter the target information. Define objectives and permitted destruction first.

04

Data are not a causal conclusion

Files, parameters and interpretation are separate agreed outputs; an unusual signal does not prove one unique cause.

TECHNICAL MATCHING

Submit a Testing Requirement

Send the material, question and existing data. Our own laboratories arrange preparation, methods, controls and outputs while retaining scientific limits rather than prescribing a cause.

Agree specimen amount, permitted damage, preparation, methods, timing, fees and outputs. Intended report use and CMA/CNAS marks require the relevant scope checks.

FAQS

Methods and data

Answers on test items, sample requirements, methods, standards and report deliverables.

Can the listed instrumental projects be arranged?

Yes, through our own laboratories. Agree preparation, accessories, conditions, amount, timing, fees and outputs; a method name does not imply identical results under every condition.

Will more methods guarantee complete evidence?

No. They can add composition, structure, morphology or performance information, but positions, treatment and quantities must be comparable. Missing context or controls may still prevent a unique conclusion.

Can raw data and quantitative work be provided?

Yes, as arranged for the task. Agree targets, matrix, calibration, preparation and format; without applicable calibration, library similarity, peak areas or local ratios are not accurate content values.

Must a specimen always be cleaned or cut?

No. Some treatments change surface, contamination or fracture evidence. Preserve and record the original state, agree permitted damage, then perform the preparation needed for the goal.
